1. Introduction
Welcome to CineMatch. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CineMatch iOS application ("App," "Service," or "we/us/our"). By downloading, installing, or using CineMatch, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
2. Service Description
CineMatch is an AI-powered iOS application that provides personalized movie and TV show recommendations, episode tracking, watchlist management, and related entertainment discovery features.
- Content metadata (movie and TV show information, cast, ratings, images) is provided by The Movie Database (TMDB). CineMatch is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- AI-powered features, including the AI Concierge and intelligent recommendations, are powered by OpenAI and processed via secure server-side functions.
- Streaming availability information is provided by third-party data sources and may not always reflect real-time availability.
3. Accounts & Authentication
CineMatch offers multiple ways to sign in:
- Sign in with Apple — using your Apple ID
- Email & Password — creating a dedicated account
- Guest Access — anonymous usage with limited features
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Each person may maintain only one account. If you suspect unauthorized use of your account, please contact us immediately at support@cinematch.app.
Guest accounts are not recoverable. If you uninstall the App or sign out of a guest account, your data may be permanently lost. We recommend signing in with Apple or email to protect your data.
4. Subscriptions & Payments
CineMatch offers a Free tier and a Premium subscription tier:

Premium Subscription Pricing
- Monthly: $3.99 USD per month
- Yearly: $34.99 USD per year
Subscription Terms (Apple In-App Purchases)
- Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at the confirmation of purchase.
- Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the applicable subscription rate.
- You can manage and cancel your subscriptions by going to your App Store account settings after purchase.
- Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. CineMatch does not directly collect or store any payment information.
5. Content & Intellectual Property
The CineMatch application, including its design, code, original features, and branding, is owned by CineMatch and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
- TMDB Content: Movie and TV show metadata, images, ratings, and related data are provided by TMDB under their API terms of use. CineMatch does not own, host, or claim rights to this content.
- AI-Generated Content: Recommendations and AI Concierge responses are generated by AI models and are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only.
- Your Data: You retain ownership of your personal data, including your watchlist, ratings, reactions, and preferences. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
6. Acceptable Use
When using CineMatch, you agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the App
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, its servers, or any connected systems
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to extract content or data from the App
- Share your account credentials with others or allow multiple people to use a single account
- Use AI features (AI Concierge, recommendation requests) to generate hate speech, harassment, threats, or any illegal content
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security or access control features of the App
- Use the Service for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these Terms
7. AI Features Disclaimer
CineMatch uses artificial intelligence to power several features, including personalized recommendations, the AI Concierge chat assistant, and smart watchlist sorting. Please be aware of the following:
- Recommendations are suggestions, not guarantees. AI-generated recommendations are based on your preferences, viewing history, and broader patterns. Individual taste may vary, and we cannot guarantee you will enjoy every recommendation.
- AI Concierge responses may not always be accurate. The AI assistant provides conversational responses about movies and TV shows. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated information may contain errors or outdated details. Always verify critical information through official sources.
- Data processing: Messages you send to AI features (such as the AI Concierge) are processed by OpenAI via secure server-side Cloud Functions. These messages are used solely to generate responses and are not used to train AI models. We do not share your personal identity with AI providers.
8. Limitation of Liability
The CineMatch Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- Content metadata from TMDB will be accurate, complete, or current
- Streaming availability information will reflect real-time availability on any platform
- AI-generated recommendations or responses will be accurate or suitable for your preferences
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CineMatch and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.
9. Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for information on how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.
10. Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or use the Service in a way that could harm other users or the integrity of the platform.
You may delete your account at any time through the App's Profile settings. Upon deletion:
- Your personal data, watchlist, ratings, and preferences will be permanently removed
- Any active Premium subscription should be canceled separately through your App Store account settings to avoid continued billing
- Account deletion is irreversible
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
Your continued use of CineMatch after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the revised Terms, please discontinue use of the App.
