Delete Your Data in the App
How to delete your account
You can delete your account and all associated data directly within the CineMatch app:
- Open CineMatch on your device.
- Go to Settings (from the Profile tab).
- Tap Account.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
This action is permanent. Once your account is deleted, all of your data is permanently removed from our servers and cannot be recovered.
Cannot Access the App?
Request deletion by email
If you are unable to access the app, you can request data deletion by email:
- Send an email to hello@cinematchapp.net.
- Use the subject line: "Data Deletion Request".
- Include the email address associated with your CineMatch account in the body of the email.
We will process your request within 30 days and send you a confirmation once your data has been deleted.
What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, the following account-linked data is removed from CineMatch's active systems:
- Account profile and authentication data
- Watchlist items and collections
- Ratings, reactions, and viewing history
- AI Concierge chat history
- Genre preferences, taste profiles, and personalization signals
- Concierge query topics and stored raw Concierge prompt text tied to your CineMatch account
- Push notification registrations
- Subscription records on our servers
- Analytics and behavioral records tied to your CineMatch user ID in our Firestore collections
- Trakt connection tokens, sync state, and queued sync operations stored by CineMatch if you connected Trakt
What Is NOT Deleted
The following data is not under our control and is retained by third parties:
- Apple subscription billing records — Managed by Apple. To cancel your subscription, go to iOS Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > CineMatch > Cancel Subscription.
- Third-party provider records — Data already processed by OpenAI, Trakt if you connected it, Apple, TMDB, OMDb, TVMaze, JustWatch-attributed streaming availability sources, or other metadata providers is governed by those providers' own retention and deletion policies.
- Aggregated or de-identified reporting — We may retain aggregate metrics and operational reports that are no longer tied to your CineMatch account.
- Security, fraud, and infrastructure logs — Some server, billing, or security logs may be retained where needed for reliability, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or dispute handling.
If you have an active Premium subscription, deleting your CineMatch account does not automatically cancel your Apple subscription. Please cancel it separately through your Apple ID settings to avoid future charges.
